disguising the joke

I've re-drawn one of my favourites using the new sheep design. Although the full colour looks great, I'm not sure that it disguises the joke a little. Here are the two versions for comparison.

Is there anything I could do to keep the colour and highlight the jumper a bit (short of drawing arrows pointing to it)?

  1. You are quite correct, it's no longer obvious what the joke is.

What if you swapped the jumper for a white knitted aran style? Perhaps the simlar colour might help.

  2. It has only occurred to me now that the farmer's belly being quite rotund does make a more sinister implication.....

    1. Perhaps the dialogue needs to be changed so that it's more related to being shorn than deceased.

It's not obvious what the answer is right now. Sleep in it a bit longer.

  3. sleeping in fleece - very nice, if it's clean. The grease (lanolin) is very good for the skin but not pleasant to have on you. Also, they're incredibly filthy animals, the wool traps all the dirt that they encounter (and their poo). A raw fleece is a pretty smelly and disgusting thing. Clean, it's lovely!

  4. I'm not sure it's half as funny if she's only been shorn. I'm going to try with just lines (the new sheep, but just outlines) and turning that last one into monochrome, with just the jumper coloured.
