Insert your own blowing double-entendre here.

Another in our series of exercises to draw cartoons based on common sayings (which is proving a very successful strategy).

My drawing still has a long way to go and it's never easy to think up a good joke, but this suggestion of doing some quickies based on sayings or phrases (which seem perfectly normal when taken by themselves) is working really well.

  1. To me it feels like I've broken through a wall. All my cartoons before this needed multiple frames and used a steady build up to the joke.

I'm finding this to be very refreshing,.. pick a well known saying, spend no more than an hour drawing and post it. That way if you miss the mark a little (we all do sometimes) you haven't wasted much time.

It also helps get posts out more regularly which improves the chances of growning you audience.

  2. Some good improvements from the original btw....

Heads in background much better, just that hint of a nose and chin makes all the difference. The guy at the back no longer looks like a big nose.

I’d have maybe not made the eyes full ovals too. It’s like you want a gradual reduction in details as you work your way back. (Also be wary of having your drawings sit on the edge of the page.)

The moustache is suitably ornate, but the mouth is too low down. It might have been better to have him showing his teeth in anger/frustration rather than that disgruntled look (which would typically get lost in the facial hair)

    Overall it's a good comic.
